About WA

WA is a women-led organisation advancing gender justice in Cameroon. Since 2005, we have worked alongside communities — not for them — to prevent gender-based violence, strengthen women's voices, and build safer, more resilient futures for women, girls and vulnerable populations.

Vision

A just society where human rights and dignity of marginalised people are respected and promoted.

Mission

To improve the livelihood and dignity of men, women and youths through capacity building, creating awareness for gender equity and human rights, protecting the environment, promoting good health and governance, and influencing policies using sustainable practices while respecting local norms and state laws.

Organisational Purpose

To empower women, girls, and vulnerable communities to claim their rights, strengthen their voices, improve their livelihoods, and actively participate in building a more just and equitable society.

Our Values — PACE

  • Partnership — We work with communities, not for communities, because sustainable change is achieved through participation, collaboration, inclusion and shared ownership.
  • Accountability — We prioritise integrity, transparency, professionalism and responsibility in every intervention, ensuring our work delivers meaningful and measurable impact.
  • Commitment — We are dedicated to advancing gender justice and protecting human dignity.
  • Empowerment — We enable women, girls and communities to realise their potential, strengthen their voices and lead their own development.

Our Guiding Philosophy

Nothing For Me Without Me
— meaningful, sustainable change requires the active participation of the people most affected by the issues it addresses.
